Why do you really Workout?

Hello from Brett Ray here at Studio Fitness and Greensboro Adventure Boot Camp.

Here's a question for you! Why do you really workout? All kinds of reasons come to mind like; I want to lose weight, I want to look good by the pool and/or at the beach, I want more attention from the opposite sex, I need to lower my blood pressure and/or cholesterol or I want to look good naked!!!

I hear all of the reasons and more. But I think the reasons why people really workout is because they want to feel more self confident about themselves. We all want to be validated. And we all love a genuine compliment especially when it comes from someone we know, like and trust.

If someone tells you that your ass is looking hot or that you belly is looking flatter you light up like a light bulb. Yes you are starting to harvest the fruit of your labor. You have been noticed with a well deserved compliment. What does this do? In my humble opinion it's makes you want to train, workout even harder and more frequently.

Speaking for myself, I run to weights as my refuge when life kicks me in the b@lls. When life hits me and the pain of it takes me down to my knees, I know from past life experience, that jumping into regular ass busting workouts will make me feel good about my self. And the good results usually follow.

I have been in the personal training/weight loss business over 10 years. I hear all kinds of reasons why my clients and boot campers say they want to workout. I listen intently because somewhere in our initial meeting the real reason why...will pop out. It's their "Hot Button" to get them motivated and inspired.

Why do you think people really workout?

  1. Training is oxygen for me. Of course the health and aesthetic benefits are as important to me as the sanity keeping effect that my daily workout provides.
I think most people SAY they train for health, but the REAL reason is to look better in their t-shirt and jeans. There's nothing wrong with a little vanity if it leads to a healthier lifestyle.
Anyone near Brett should get with him to tap into his advice and inspiration!
